Does Your Success Depend On Your Age?
When I was growing up in the U.S., the people that was older then me kept telling me that I was too young to make money or be successful.
From the time I was born until my early 30’s, I worked my ass off like a water buffalo and never made any money.
I had done everything you can imagine to make money… but I was still poor and had no money.
- I have worked in the farm fields picking fruit and vegetables from sunrise to sundown.
- I have worked in the sweat shops sewing 700-1,000 garments per week.
- I have worked 10 hours/day printing brochures for the government.
- I have worked 10 hours/day manufacturing street signs.
- I have worked 10 hours/day driving forklifts in a warehouse.
- I have worked as a club bouncer, bar tender, etc.
- I have trained people to gain muscle and lose body fat at the gyms.
I even tried making money illegally such as:
- Selling drugs on the street.
- Running an illegal sports gambling operation.
- Loansharking (lending money for interest).
- Stealing cars, trucks, boats, etc.
- Stealing construction equipment.
- Selling stolen electronic equipment.
- And a bunch of other bullshit.
The legal stuff I did made me no money.
The illegal stuff I did made me no money either but it got me into a ton of trouble with the police!
Is It Wise To Listen To Older People…
Who Are Unsuccessful In Their Life?
By the time I was 30 years old, all the older people around me told me to stop trying to make money because I was already too old now.
The older people said that if it was my destiny and fortune to be rich, then I would have been rich already.
People kept telling me I would never become wealthy and successful because I was already 30 years old.
People even told me that I was born in the year of the rat so it was not meant for me to make money.
It is funny to me that in the poor communities, no one knows how to make money but for some reason, everyone knows how to be a psychic and fortune teller.
I never gave up on my dreams of being wealthy because of 3 simple reasons:
- If other poor people have become rich before, then I can do it too. I just need to learn how to do it.
- I absolutely refused to listen to another poor person tell me any thing about making money. If a poor person knew about money, they would not be poor for long.
- I was already poor so I had nothing to lose! If I tried something and it didn’t work and I didn’t make any money, I would still be poor and nothing changed. If I tried something new and it worked, at least I had an opportunity to have some money in my life.
You can say that by the time I was in my early 30’s, all my friends and family members had given up on me. They all thought I was crazy for wanting to be wealthy and successful.
There Is No Special Age For Success
In my early 30’s, I met some business people who taught me that there is no speciI al age for success. Either you know what to do to make money or you don’t.
Before my 30’s I never made any money because I did not know anyone that made money or knew anyone that made money.
Therefore, I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what type of business I should do and how to start the business.
Then in my early 30’s, I networked with the right people and started to learn how to make money the right way.
Am I a millionaire yet?
At nearly 40 years old now, I’m not a millionaire yet, but I make enough money to eat, travel, and buy whatever I like.
My wife does not have to work and I enjoy what I do for my work.
Also, I have made enough extra money where I can afford the time and money to set up and operate this website to help other young Vietnamese people succeed in their lives.
Success Can Happen At Any Age
The reality is that success can happen at any age for anyone as long as you have the right mental attitude, the right work ethics, the right knowledge and you are surrounded by the right people to help you succeed.
Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald’s is a classic example that you can never be too old to achieve wealth in your life. Ray did not achieve massive wealth until he was past 50 years old!
If Ray Kroc would have listened to all the unsuccessful people tell him that he was too old to build a successful business, then he would have never been open minded enough to see the opportunities to franchise a small hamburger restaurant into the most expensive franchise in the world.
On the other hand, you have people like Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, who became the 29th richest person in the world after Facebook became a public company on May 18, 2012.
I share these two examples with you so that you can see that age has nothing to do with your success.
Can you become the next Mark Zuckerberg?
I don’t know.
Do you have the right skill that everyone needs?
Are you surrounded by the right people?
Do you have the right product or service that everyone in the world needs?
If you only have a product or service that only 100 people want, then it’s very hard to make a lot of money from it.
To me, it’s not important if you become the next billionaire like Mark Zuckerberg or multi-millionaire like Ray Krock.
I have never made a billion dollars and I do not personally know anyone that has made a billion dollars so I can’t say for certain that any one can become a billionaire.
However, I can say with a high degree of confidence that anyone is capable of becoming a millionaire because I have many close friends that are millionaires from around the world.
My millionaire friends are not special people.
They simply know how to build a successful business while the non-millionaires don’t.
Whether you want to become a millionaire or not is up to you and it’s not for me to decide.
Maybe you are visiting this blog simply because you want to make a little extra money to help your family.
However, I do know this…
What’s important is that you DO NOT let the “words” of unsuccessful people crush your hopes and dreams and prevent you from making progress in your life.
